100km walk to school

Charitable activities at Yarra come in different shapes and sizes—from birthday parties to corporate donations, BBQs and sporting events.

For the first time at Yarra Foundation, a group of seven members and friends of Yarra walked 100km to raise funds for the education of underprivileged children in Iran.

The three-day Great Ocean Walk was held from November 6-8, 2015. The team visited some of the most beautiful bushwalking tracks in south western Victoria.

Their wonderful effort raised $ 5,073 well above an initial goal of $3,780. The funds will be spent on the transportation to and from School of 19 children in Tang-e-Mansouri, one of the most poverty prone areas in the country.

The team of walkers and those supported them, both financially and by other means, feel an amazing sense of achievement. Yarra would like to salute everyone who is willing to combine fun with dedication, life with giving, generosity with devotion and to walk step by step in making education readily available for all children in Iran, regardless of their socioeconomic background.
